Tour de Queensland

Queensland Weekender

The Scenic Rim presents plenty of cycling opportunities along its many quiet country roads. And there are riding enthusiasts who lead tours of the region. Cycle Away tours leave regularly throughout the month and experienced riders are on hand to help out those newer to the sport. They also hold bike skills workshops in Brisbane that include lessons on boosting confidence when riding in the city.

Bicycle Queensland is a non profit organisation that promotes safe cycling around the state. And in the first week of September, it is hosting the Gayndah to Noosa – Citrus to Sea bike ride. It will attract up to a thousand riders and support crews will provide food, accommodation and carry the luggage of riders.

A popular destination tourists in the Scenic Rim is the Towri Sheep Cheesery. It’s the only accredited sheep cheesery in Queensland and it produces a boutique range of cheeses that guests can enjoy in the cheese room. There are also cheese-making classes available. The cheesery is open by appointment only.

A great accommodation option in Beaudesert is Baggs of Beaudesert Bed and Breakfast. It’s right in the heart of town and has four lovely guest rooms. Rooms start at $120 per night for two people.
