The Art of Wine There are many ways to obtain a greater appreciation of wine. The first step should be to find a good bottleshop, like the Wine Experience in the Brisbane suburb of Paddington. The shop offers a range of old world and new world wine, along with a hand selected range of cleanskins. Master of Wine, Andrew Corrigan offers wine appreciation classes throughout the year.
The Queensland Performing Arts Centre offers another way to appreciate wine – by pairing it with an impressive menu! The ‘Art of Wine’ dinners are held monthly at the centre’s Lyrebird Restaurant. Each dinner showcases a different winery. The wine maker is invited to speak to diners about the wines that have been selected to serve with a five course meal created by the Lyrebird’s chefs.
If you’re after a bed to rest your head after a hard day of sipping, the Brisbane Hilton could be just what you’re looking for. Centrally located on Elizabeth Street, rooms start at $259 per night in March. Or during the Easter holidays and throughout April take advantage of a special deal and stay from $171 per night. Within easy reach of all rooms is the Vintaged Bar & Grill. In addition to a great menu, it offers many fine drops in its walk-in wine room.
