Sunshine Beach Off Leash Sunshine Beach near Noosa is a suburb that's particularly dog friendly. Although if you know where to look you'll find dog lovers and their pets have all sorts of accommodation options down the length of the southeast Queensland coastline.
At the more luxurious end of the scale is a large 4 bedroom house in Duke Street. It has everything a pooch friendly pad needs, including a fully fenced backyard, tiled floors and enough grass to play fetch. But the biggest draw card is that it's just 400m from a dog friendly beach!
Sunshine Beach is a popular dog beach with a designated off-leash area up the northern end. But other sandy stretches where your dog can run free include Caloundra, Coolum, Marcus Beach, Peregian and Noosa North Shore. While on the Gold Coast, Southport is a popular option as well as other off-leash zones on Palm Beach and at Tallebudgera.
Not only are dogs welcome on the sand at Sunshine Beach, some local cafés also cater for them and Costa Noosa accommodates dog and coffee lovers alike.
With the RSPCA reporting that around half of dogs don't get enough exercise it's important to be aware of your animal's activity level. Nicole Cleary from the RSPCA says no matter if you have a large or small dog they still need to be active and she believes boredom is one of the main contributing factors to bad behaviour.
