Big Red Cat Straddie Dogs
Stradbroke Island is a great holiday spot for the whole family to enjoy. Only 45 minutes by ferry from Manly, Straddie is the perfect weekender from Brisbane. The Big Red Cat offers a return journey to the island for $135 per vehicle and dogs are allowed on board free of charge. There are up to sixteen services a day, seven days a week. Even so, it's advisable to book well in advance.
Beachgoers should be wary when taking pets. Dogs are only permitted at Main and Flinders Beach when on leash and can be let off leash in sign-posted areas on Flinders. Both beaches also offer foreshore camping with pets.
For accommodation with a few more amenities, the local holiday rental market offers an extensive choice. Wyndham Lodge is one of many holiday homes that allow pets. The three bedroom Amity Point home is an easy walk to Flinders Beach. It sleeps up to eight people and is self contained. A stay at Wyndam Lodge in low season starts at $465 for two nights through to $670 per week.
