Hervey Bay Seafood Festival Every fisherman has their own motivation for heading out on the water - some do it for fun… some do it for a feed… while for a commercial fisherman it's a way to make a living.
The waters surrounding Hervey Bay are some of the most fertile on the east coast, producing everything from monster prawns to succulent scallops.
In winter there's plenty of fresh local product hitting markets across the country, and its also the time of year when Hervey Bay seafood industry invites members of the public to partake in fresh local produce at the Hervey Bay Seafood Festival.
The event takes place at the Urangan Boat Harbour, meaning you can get a feed within shucking distance of the trawler fleet.
If you're looking for somewhere to stay during the festival then the Ramada resort has just opened right across the road, with single rooms and studio accommodation available.
