Poppy Cakes The famous New York-style cupcake gained worldwide attention when it featured on television series ‘Sex and the City’ – and now Carrie Bradshaw’s favourite treat is available in Brisbane.
Boutique bakery Poppy Cakes stays true to the original American recipe and uses a European butter to guarantee a lighter and creamier taste.
Business founder Theo Levonis launched an online Poppy Cakes store in 2007, but incredible public demand encouraged him to open Poppy Cakes at The Emporium in Fortitude Valley. Now business is booming, with cupcake fans coming from far and wide for an unbeatable taste experience that won’t break the bank. The seven heavenly varieties are priced between $3 and $3.25.
One of the most popular selections is the Red Velvet cupcake, originating in America’s deep south, which combines buttermilk with a hint of cocoa and vanilla butter cream.
