Greek West End

After WWII, thousands of Greek migrants made Brisbane their home. Their influence on the city can still be seen in the inner city suburbs of West End and South Brisbane.

The hub of the Greek community in Brisbane is the Greek Club. It conducts regular tours of the Orthodox Church of St George, which has an amazing display of religious artwork. The club also offers Greek food and plays host to regular entertainment.

Artini’s Cookies and Sweets sell a large range of traditional Greek goodies. Owner Tina Hatzifotis started the business under her mother’s house and demand is now so high that she supplies restaurants across Brisbane. Artini’s is open five days a week.
