Byfield Miners Playgrounds

Byfield Miners Playgrounds

Mining has taken a firm hold on the Central Queensland town of Rockhampton, with many workers adopting the fly in, fly out method and in turn missing out on all the region has to offer.

Places like Yeppoon, the Capricorn Coast, and the Keppel Islands are right on Rockyís doorstep, as well as the outdoor adventure park that is the Byfield National Park

Byfield Miners Playgrounds

The Byfield National Park is a magnificent 15000 hectare expanse, about an hours drive North East from Rockhampton. Itís a four wheel driverís paradise, with plenty of tracks for the beginners, right through to the advanced. Designated camping areas are littered throughout the Park and there are plenty of beaches ideal for fishing and surfing, walking and mountain biking tracks and horse trails.

Skirting the park is the Byfield State Forest, which is home to the beautiful Upper Stony Recreational Area and camping facility. 18 good size camping spots, barbecues, fire pits, amenities and a fresh water lagoon feature, but taking drinking water and fire wood is essential. A permit is required to camp in the National Park and State Forest, and it can be obtained through the NPRSR website.
